Big Tings a Gwan!

Halloween Session!

This coming Friday I'll be sharing the stage with a few local legends of the Barcelona DJ scene, DJ Panko (Ojos de Brujo, Lenacay, Electrorumbaiao,) DJ2D2, Guille de Juan (Playtime) and our host Professor Angel Sound for "Night of the Zombeats" at Trip Club!  Trip Club is his baby and the Professor has been bringing great talent to town every Friday: Nightmares on Wax (Warp Records,) Silicone Soul (Soma Records,) Pete Herbert and last Friday Miguel Puente.  The venue, El Molino, is a really beautiful club and goes until the wee hours...

Friday, October 31: 11:55pm - 5:00am, Trip Club at El Molino.

The following Friday will be exciting as well!

I will be spinning alongside more excellent local talent, DJ Millie (celebrating her birthday that evening,) Fred Guzzo & LeMarquis!  Mr. Guzzo & LeMarquis are the first DJs I'd ever heard spinning jazz (the O.G. stuff, e.g., Art Blakey, Horace Silver) as dance music!  I'd read about the London "Jazz Dance" scene for years, but by the time I made it to London, the big names had moved on to other music and most of the venues were long-gone.  My first experience with this happened at Harlem Jazz Club afterhours in Barcelona.  After residencies in Soul Club and Cafe Royale, Fred has his own spot, Guzzo.  If you haven't been there yet, this is a great reason to stop by!  The room is amazing, the staff is wonderful and of course the music is top-notch!  Years later I met DJ Millie laying down some great soulful, deep house grooves.  She also plays the foundation music for that style as well (i.e., soul, jazz/funk.)  "London Connection" is an appropriate name for this event as Ms. Johnson hails from there and is bringing one of our DJ heroes: Patrick ForgeDa Lata (band,) Cosmic Jam (radio show,) Dingwalls (the club-night was officially called "Talkin' Loud and Saying Something") and Rebirth of Cool (compilation series) are all things of which Patrick is or has been a part.  I'm supremely happy to be a part of this event!

Friday, November 7: 8:00pm - 3:30am, London Connection at Guzzo.Plaza Comercial, 10; 08003 Barcelona (Metro L4 [Yellow] Barceloneta) Tel: +34 936 67 00 36

FREE Entry!!  Music policy: Worldwide baby! Dress code: Dancing shoes and smiles!
See you there!
